The location for Noh performance planed to be held at Shiizaki Suwa Shrine has been changed due to the approaching typhoon. The performance will not be “Takigi noh (torched)” because it will be held indoor.

The new place is below:

bus: take Honsen Line and get off at “Nogyo-gijyutsu Centre-mae” bus stop.

Program: Izutsu (about 1 hour program)
Start: 19:30pm
Admission: 500yen *pay at the door

Why don’t you come and join the summer festival in Ryotsu? There is an annual festival in Ryotsu area on 7th and 8th, August. On 7th, the is folk dance parade on the streets, and 8th, there will be Onidaiko( beast dance) and fireworks. Many stalls line on the street. Pleae come and join the hot summer festival!

There are 2 Noh performance this weekend. One is at Kasuga Shrine in Aikawa, and the other is Takei Kumano Shrine in Niibo. You can find about Kasuga one in other blog, so I will tell you about Kumano on here.  It is held at a small, old, and local stage. There is no much parking area, so if you are planning to go there by car, you have to get there earlier to find spot.

It is the perfect seasons to see Noh performance outside. You can join one of those at Kasuga Shrine Noh Theatre in Aikawa on June 19.

Now, it is the best season to trek on ” Aoneba Route” in Donden Mt. You can enjoy various kinds of wild flowes, such as hepatica, dogtooth violet, and shiraneaoi. You may need to walk on the snow around Aoneba-jujiro(about 750m high) or higher point, but it will soon thaw. Please came and walk along the pleasant mountain path in the spring breeze.

Noh play will be held at Shiizaki Shrine, Sado island, on May 7, 2011.

The show will be start at 7:30pm. If you would like to see the celemony held before the show, please come to the shrine around 7:00pm.

Car: about 5 minutes by car from Ryotsu Port. drive route 65 toward Shiizaki Onsen area.

Shuttle Bus: You can take free shuttle bus from ryokans in Ryotsu area or Sawata area. Ask details to Niigata Kotsu Bus company (0259-52-3200) and make reservation for the seat.
